World Heavyweight title
Vladimir Klitschko retained his world heavyweight title with a unanimous points victory over Russian Alexander Povetkin at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Moscow. The 37-year-old Ukrainian, who took his record to 61 wins and three defeats, knocked Povetkin down four times on the way to retaining his WBA, IBO, IBF and WBO crowns. Klitschko’s older brother Vitali holds the WBC belt.

Champions League Twenty20 Championship
Harbhajan Singh spun Mumbai Indians to a remarkable 33-run victory with seven balls to spare over Rajasthan Royals to wrest the Champions League Twenty20 Championship title for the second time in three years.
Mumbai Indians’ Dwayne Smith and Harbhajan Singh won the Man-of-the-Series and Man-of-the-match awards, respectively. Rajasthan Royals’ Ajinkya Rahane won the Golden Bat for scoring the most runs in the tournament (288), while 41-year-old off spinner Pravin Tambe, also of Royals, bagged the Golden Wicket for scalping the most wickets, 12.
Sachin announces retirement
On 10 October 2013, Sachin Tendulkar conveyed his decision to retire from cricket after playing his 200th Test match in November, against West Indies.
"All my life, I have had a dream of playing cricket for India. I have been living this dream every day for the last 24 years. It's hard for me to imagine a life without playing cricket because it's all I have ever done since I was 11 years old. It's been a huge honour to have represented my country and played all over the world. I look forward to playing my 200th Test Match on home soil, and then...I’ll call it a day,” he said in a letter to BCCI.
