Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony, 2013
World acclaimed orchestra conductor Zubin Mehta has been conferred the prestigious Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony. He is the second recipient after Sitar maestro late Pandit Ravi Shankar. The award carries a golden plaque, a citation, a shawl and Rs one crore.
Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development, 2012
The award has been conferred to Ms Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia, for serving as an example and an inspiration for ensuring the return of peace, democracy, development, security and order in Liberia; and for her strong interest in the consolidation and improvement of Liberia’s relations with India. She is the first woman President of an African country.
